Canadian Nuclear Laboratories has applied to the government for a change to existing laws so that they can offload untold amounts of nuclear waste onto unceded land. “Coincidentally,” we recently learned that Ontario-based Cameco, a Uranium fuel supplier, has been taking in nuclear waste from Europe and Ukraine since 2022. This has not gotten much press and the nuclear industry is hoping no doubt that no one will notice! Shipping nuclear waste is notoriously dangerous, and storing it near water is crazy, as you will be aware if you have watched films like Radioactive and The San Onofre Syndrome. Let’s show up and tell them that we are not okay with this!
