Join us for the monthly meetings of the North Country Chapter of World BEYOND War on the first Saturday of each month, 3-5pm, @ Saranac Lake Free Library (SLFL)* Cantwell Room.
The North Country Chapter is made up of a broad coalition of community members from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We value input and participation from all areas of society including youth and elders, for example, who may have varying perspectives and offerings to bring to the table on striving for and achieving peace and the abolition of war.
The key goals of the chapter are to plan community building activities and to build coalitions with other local organizations, to encourage critical thought and healthy democratic discussion and dialogue with resources such as books and films, as well as encouraging creative outlets through media and art production – all to facilitate progress towards protecting our community, and the world, from the economic, environmental, democratic, and cultural downsides of war.
Through monthly meetings and additional project meetings, we will organize events and activities that manifest World BEYOND War’s theory of change through education, media creation, and direct action campaigns. Some projects and event we host include:
- Book discussion groups
- Film screenings and discussions
- Vigils for peace and public awareness
- Service projects in coalition with other local organizations
- Community building gatherings such as potlucks, open mics, group recreation activities
- Chapter publications and exhibitions of art and writing
Join us to contribute and participate in working towards a World BEYOND War!
