Demonstration: Action in Solidarity With Peru
July 19, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT
The military exercises will take place in the south of Perú, where mostly indigenous people and peasants live, and where during the month of January of this year there were large protests against the breakdown of democracy in the country due to the dismissal of President Pedro Castillo, and the unconstitutional and illegitimate appointment by Peruvian Congress of Mrs. Dina Boluarte as president.
In addition, several events are being organized by the Peruvian movement in the United States and the solidarity movement to demand the restitution of democracy in the country, reject militarism, and demand that the will of the people be respected.
Simultaneously in Lima, large mobilizations are being called for July 19, with the participation of many social movements in the country, who advocate for the possibility of having a better future based on democracy and peace.
What: Delivery of signatures to the U.S. Congress
This same day July 19 in the afternoon, we will mobilize to the headquarters of the Embassy of Peru, with a message against war, violence, and militarism, and in support of Peace.
Where: Embassy of Peru
Address: 1700 Massachusetts Ave., N.W. Washington, D.C. 20036
Come with signs & your World BEYOND War t-shirts and let’s act in solidarity with our friends in Peru, to demand the withdrawal of U.S. troops, the end of militarism in the country and the restitution of democracy.
