The Oregon PeaceFest is in its 4th year and continues to attract a large number of attendees from the community. The free event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Newberg Oregon & other community leaders, and is held at the Chehalem Cultural Center in Newberg, Oregon. It features a peace pole walk, a children’s carnival, 2 live bands, food carts, and displays by local nonprofits, including Veterans For Peace and the Newberg Peace Garden. This year, the Oregon PeaceFest, is dedicated to Mike Caruso, who passed away on July 13th this year. Mike was the founder of the Rotary Peace Builder clubs, the Oregon PeaceFest and many other initiatives dedicated to global nonviolence. He is missed but his work will continue through the strong organizations he helped create and through lifelong friends who joined him on his journey to a more peaceful world.
