From Sept 21 to Oct 2, 2024, (Int’l Day of Peace to Int’l Day of Nonviolence), join tens of thousands of people in creatively building a culture of peace rooted in active nonviolence, addressing the entwined issues of violence, war, poverty, racism, and environmental destruction. Last year, people held over 5,000 actions, events, and marches across the USA and in 20 countries. Over 60,000 people participated in these events.
It’s time to get serious about a culture of nonviolence. The horrifying reality of violence is hurting everyone—from wars to gun violence, climate disasters to economic disasters, systemic racism to hate crimes, violence is hurting everyone.
What will YOU do this year?
Teach-ins. Film screenings. Violence interruption. Active bystander trainings. Listening circles. Divestment actions. Mutual aid. Sit-ins for peace. Murals for the earth. There’s dozens of ways to oppose violence and propose nonviolence. Come up with your own action ideas or participate in one of ours—we love it all!
Here are our 2024 calls to action:
Tell us you’ll take action here. You don’t need to know all the details. We’ll check in with you as we get closer. We’ll also share resources and toolkits along the way.
Spread the word! Invite people and groups to participate in Action Days. Reach out locally and through your circles to encourage everyone to do something to build a culture of peace and active nonviolence between September 21-October 2. Share this link.
Get inspired by the Peace and Planet Action Reports. A plant and pledge swap. An artistic bridge. A listening circle. A peace garden. From Earth Day to May Day 2024, Campaign Nonviolence asked people to connect the issues of peace and planet. In the wonderful action reports posted on our blog, you will see examples of mass trainings at high schools and colleges, plastic waste challenges, performance art, and more. See photos, read stories, and take the creativity forward into the Action Days in September.
A culture of active nonviolence has the power to change everything. We can help our friends, neighbors, coworkers, relatives, and community members tap into this power by participating in Action Days. Everyone can do something. What will you do?
